Die großen Edel-Western

Im September 1979 startete der Delta Verlag im Vertrieb des Ehapa Verlages mit dem „LEUTNANT BLUEBERRY“-Band „DIE SPUR DER APACHEN“  die Comic-Reihe „DIE GROSSEN EDEL-WESTERN“, in der neben den Western-Abenteuer mit Leutnant Blueberry auch die drei franko-belgischen Western-Serien

• Comanche
• McCoy
• Jonathan Cartland

veröffentlicht wurden.

Die Comic-Abenteuer von Leutnant Blueberry und Comanche waren bereits ab dem Jahr 1973 im Comic-Magazin „ZACK“ erschienen. 

Doch nachdem der Koralle-Verlag im Jahr 1978 die Lizenzrechte von Dargaud und Lombard verloren hatte, wurden diese Rechte an den beiden Comic-Serien „Leutnant Blueberry“ und „Comanche“ wieder frei, so dass der Delta Verlag die Geschichten als neuer Lizenznehmer in Deutschland veröffentlichen konnte.

Im Gegensatz zu „Leutnant Blueberry“ und „Comanche“ erschienen die beiden Western-Serien „Mac Coy“ und „Jonathan Cartland“ in der Comic-Western-Reihe „DIE GROSSEN EDEL-WESTERN“ zum ersten Mal in Deutschland.

Bis 1986 erschienen insgesamt 40 Ausgaben von „DIE GROSSEN EDEL-WESTERN“, bis der Delta Verlag die Comic-Reihe mit dem MCCOY-Abenteuer „DIE SIEGER VON CAMERONE“ einstellte.
